Improved stoves reducing fuel wood consumption & improving health in Bangladesh

Under this focus area, RELWA objectives include the scaled up adoption of safe, efficient and appropriate household cooking and lighting technologies worldwide. Activities can include performing market assessments, developing manufacturing and supply chain development strategies, linking household energy programs with carbon financing and offset programs, and/or building local capacity for stove testing and monitoring, commercial stove marketing, etc.

Assessment of the Improved Stove Market in Bangladesh

This report documents innovative models for the creation of a commercial cookstove market in Bangladesh, with a focus on getting to scale. The purpose is to identify locally operating organizations in Bangladesh involved in improved cookstove activities and programs with significant capacity of achieving scale, as well as to propose areas of intervention where USAID funding could help eliminate clearly identified obstacles to scaling up. Potentially replicable commercialization models in other energy sectors (solar home systems and biogas plants) were closely studied.

Fuel-Efficient Stove Programs in Humanitarian Settings

The purpose of this Toolkit is to help humanitarian organizations determine if a Fuel-Efficient Stove program is feasible and appropriate for a given setting, and if so, how to design and implement an effective program for wood-burning stoves.  This Toolkit is designed to take implementer organizations through a step-by-step process of assessment, planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of a proposed activity. It contains twelve steps.
